Parish Service Day
12 non-profit agencies, 250 volunteers, 115 families, 20 cubic yards of mulch, 30,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now (plus about 100 hair nets), 10 gallons of Starbucks coffee, and 1 day of serving God in our community. These things marked the completion of another wildly successful Parish Service Day on Saturday, November 6th. This year also marked the return of multiple service projects across our community, giving parish family members the opportunity to help a broad range of agencies and increase the awareness of their every day need for such volunteer service. They included Raleigh Rescue Mission, Wake Relief, Resources for Seniors, Interact, Salvation Army, Loaves and Fishes, Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Step Up Ministry. Saint Saviour's Center was again a bustling beehive of activity with the halls and grounds filled with meal packagers, pouch decorators, food sorters, shelf builders, baby sitters, and mulch spreaders. Many thanks to the captains who organized the volunteers for these activities: Arthur Hunt, Ginny McKay, Dave Simons, Anna Bess Brown, Howard Brooks, Andy Givens, Betsy Livesay, Charles Smith, Lockhart Taylor, Yorke Sartorio, John Monaghan, and Sharon Hayes. Please remember that these agencies need our help more than just one day out of the year. Every day is service day!
